Prosecutor's Office of BiH launched an investigation against Minister of Security Dragan Mektić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has issued an order to conduct an investigation against the Minister of Security of BiH, Dragan Mektić, it was announced today from that institution.

"The order to conduct an investigation was issued after the Prosecutor's Office, in its work on the case, obtained multiple pieces of evidence indicating grounds for suspicion that criminal offenses were committed - abuse of office or authority (Article 220 of the Criminal Code of BiH), disclosure of classified information (Article 164 of the Criminal Code of BiH), and giving false testimony (Article 235 of the Criminal Code of BiH).

Namely, from the evidence collected so far, there are grounds for suspicion that the aforementioned person, as a responsible official in the capacity of Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers of BiH, obtained certain confidential information and then, in various ways, although aware that he was obliged to keep classified information, shared it with persons not authorized to access classified data, and subsequently provided false information to the public, and ultimately gave false testimony at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, which caused serious consequences for the security, rule of law, and reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Given that during the investigation, documents and evidence marked as classified will be treated, the case will receive a classification mark in the upcoming period.

We recall, the Prosecutor's Office previously announced that it would not conduct an investigation against Mektić's deputy Mijo Krešić, journalist Mate Đaković, and Croatian consul Ivan Bandić in connection with the "recruitment of Salafis" affair.
