Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office Concludes Category 2 Cases Taken Over from The Hague

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has concluded all Category 2 cases, where investigations were initiated at the prosecutor's office of the Hague Tribunal, and subsequently forwarded for processing to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

With this successful result, the promise and commitment of Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović, given to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Hague Tribunal, to make prosecutorial decisions in all Category 2 cases by the end of 2015, has been fulfilled.

Also, in the past year, 2015, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina worked intensively on war crimes cases, making maximum efforts. Prosecutors, expert associates, investigators, and other staff achieved the best results to date in war crimes cases, as 59 indictments were filed against 135 individuals accused of war crimes and grave breaches of international humanitarian law.

The quality of work on war crimes indictments is sufficiently demonstrated by the fact that very complex investigations from the Hague Tribunal have been concluded, as well as the data that in about 80% of cases based on the indictments filed so far by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for war crimes, final convictions have been handed down.
