Prosecutor's Office of BiH suspends investigation against 31 employees of CB BiH, but internal proceedings are underway

Governor of the Central Bank of BiH Kemal Kozarić stated that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has halted the investigation against 31 employees of the Central Bank due to insufficient evidence, in connection with the theft of 600,000 KM for which the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has indicted Nedžad Bajraktarević, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

- There was no evidence of involvement in the misappropriation of money. And we are glad that there was no organized crime, but we have initiated an internal disciplinary procedure against several people to see if they could have done something to prevent what happened – said Kozarić.

Kozarić said that he will file a claim for damages.

Bajraktarević was arrested in December 2014 and fully admitted to taking 600,000 KM from the vault of the Central Bank of BiH between 2012 and 2014.

As a clerk in the vault, Bajraktarević took banknotes in denominations of 200 marks on three occasions for himself, and placed ordinary paper, styrofoam, and plastic foils on the shelves, over which, as per procedure, he placed ribbons and his signature.
