Prosecutor's Office of BiH on the arrest of Omerhodžić: Countering abuses in police agencies

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH confirmed that SIPA, acting on their order, arrested Dženana Omerhodžić (born 1978), an employee of the State Investigation and Protection Agency SIPA, holding the rank of senior inspector in the War Crimes Department, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- She is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected of the criminal offense of false reporting. As part of the investigation, evidence was gathered that the suspect falsely reported a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and her fellow inspector at SIPA for taking bribes.

The conducted investigation gathered evidence that the suspect sent a false anonymous report, intending to harm her colleagues, as well as the war crimes case they are working on.

This action by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and SIPA demonstrates the institutions' determination to counter any illegalities and abuses in police agencies.

The suspect will be handed over to the prosecuting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH during the day, who will examine the suspect and then make a decision on further activities in the case.

Omerhodžić is among 17 employees against whom a criminal complaint was filed with the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for various criminal acts, and subsequently, Director Perica Stanić suspended 11 officials, including Omerhodžić.

We recall that the subject of the investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against 17 individuals includes, among other things, illegal transfers of unsuitable persons, assignment of police officers to employee duties, unlawful use of means of coercion and unlawful deprivations of liberty, providing false information to the Operational Center of the Ministry of Security during the floods, distribution of SIPA uniforms donated by ICITAP to various unauthorized persons...
