Prosecutor's Office of BiH at the same level as previous years

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, held collegiums with all prosecutors from all three prosecutorial departments of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

At the meetings with prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes, the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, as well as Department III, the Chief Prosecutor discussed the work and achieved results in the past year.

At the collegiums, it was emphasized that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, despite objective difficulties in operational work caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, managed to organize efficient work of all departments and implement health protection measures for employees and persons coming into contact with the Prosecutor's Office.

In 2020, through exceptional efforts of prosecutors, professional staff and all employees of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, working together with partner police and security agencies in BiH, the region, the European Union and the world, results were achieved in a similar ratio as recorded in previous years, which will be presented in the Report on the Work of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for 2020.

The Special Department for War Crimes reached the number of 900 indicted persons for war crimes and serious violations of international humanitarian law since the establishment and beginning of work of this department.

The Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption recorded significant results in prosecuting corruption-related criminal offenses, fighting terrorism, prosecuting criminal offenses related to illegal migrations, in the area of economic and financial crime, and participated in international operations with partner institutions from the region, EU and the world.

Within Department III, activities were carried out in prosecuting criminal offenses in the area of electoral processes, as well as other criminal offenses, the prosecution of which is very significant for meeting European standards of human rights protection, and work in the area of international legal assistance.

The Chief Prosecutor thanked all prosecutors and employees of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for their dedication to work, compliance with measures during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the achieved and realized results.
