Prosecutor's Office of BiH: Italian journalist faked story about weapons purchase, actors from the footage confessed everything

In the past 48 hours, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Operational Group for the Fight against Terrorism, as well as SIPA and the Border Police, conducted several investigative activities and searches based on a TV report by an Italian journalist, who spoke about the alleged purchase of illegal weapons for the so-called "ISIL" in BiH, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced, Patria reports.

Through operational work, the persons appearing in the footage were identified and it was established that they are not alleged arms dealers, but individuals to whom the Italian journalist gave money to act in a staged TV scene for the purpose of the report. The persons who appeared in the video are individuals in poor financial condition and registered drug addicts, who during questioning confessed and described the entire event.

The investigation also established and identified the weapons mentioned in the report, which were found in BiH, and activities are underway to find the remaining pieces of weaponry left over from the past war that were part of these activities.

Given that the aforementioned report damaged the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the fight against terrorism, the competent authorities of the Republic of Italy have been informed of everything for further action.

The Operational Group for the Fight against Terrorism continues intensive activities to detect and prosecute all occurrences and activities that may be related to terrorism.
