Prosecutor's Office of BiH and SIPA received 27 reports of election irregularities

(Patria) - Acting on duty on the day of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, duty prosecutors who, together with SIPA police officers, were on duty in regional centers in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla, received reports from citizens or institutions concerning violations of public order and peace at polling stations, allegations of election irregularities related to possible criminal offenses, as well as various events and incidents related to the election process, it was announced today by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

"The citizens' reports most often related to allegations and irregularities concerning assistance in voting for persons with disabilities and persons with difficulties, bringing in filled-out ballots, preventing observers' access, inappropriate behavior of citizens at polling stations, irregularities observed on the voter list, voting on behalf of others or with identification documents of others, physical assaults on members of polling station committees, behavior of presidents or members of polling station committees that is not in accordance with regulations, and other events they considered inappropriate or illegal.

The reports concerned polling stations in the areas of Mostar, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad, Sarajevo, Živinice, Tuzla, Zvornik, Zenica, Tomislav Grad and other locations. A total of 27 reports were received. 

Following the receipt of the reports, activities were undertaken to verify the reported allegations, official notes were made regarding the events, and instructions were given to field police officers for further action to ensure an unimpeded election process.

Subsequent verification will determine the existence of elements of criminal offenses and define further actions by prosecutor's offices, police agencies, or the Central Election Commission of BiH," it was announced.
