
SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Kenan Nikontović (born 1984) from Zenica, a citizen of BiH, who is accused of, on July 13th last year at the Brod Border Crossing Point, while working as an authorized official of the BiH Border Police, assigned to the position of border control officer in the Brod Border Police Unit, performing border control duties upon entry into BiH, in order to gain unlawful benefit, demanding and accepting a gift to perform an act within his authority that he was obliged to perform.
The indictment states that on the specified day, during the inspection of travel documents of passengers/spouses from the Netherlands, the accused demanded and accepted a gift to allow them to cross the state border, even though, after completing the border checks, he was aware that they met the conditions for legal entry into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the BiH Prosecutor's Office statement.
The accused is charged with committing the criminal offense of accepting a gift and other forms of benefit under Article 217, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment has been forwarded to the BiH Court for confirmation.
