The prosecutor in the Germanwings A320 plane crash case confirmed that the co-pilot refused the captain's request to return to the cockpit. The prosecutor in this case, Brice Robin, stated that the crash was a result of the co-pilot's free will, foreign media report, relayed by the BiH news agency Patria.
The co-pilot was locked inside the cockpit, said the prosecutor from Marseille. The sounds from the black box have been analyzed, and it can be concluded that he was alive and breathing normally until the moment of impact. It can be concluded that the plane crashed due to the co-pilot's free will, the prosecutor said.
- From the cabin recording we managed to find, one can hear the pilot telling the co-pilot to take control of the plane, which was in a hovering state at the time. However, the co-pilot began to accelerate the descent using the monitoring system to start bringing the plane down - said Brice Robin, prosecutor from Marseille.
Rescue teams have begun recovering the bodies of those killed in the plane crash.
