ICC Prosecutor Calls on Judges to Urgently Decide on Warrants for Israeli and Hamas Officials

(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) emphasized that the court has jurisdiction over the investigation against Israeli citizens and requested the judges to urgently decide on arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Reuters reported.

In court filings released on Friday, Prosecutor Karim Khan urged the judges weighing arrest warrants for Israeli officials and Hamas leaders not to delay.

"Any undue delay in these proceedings is detrimental to the rights of victims," he said. Khan stressed that the court has jurisdiction over Israeli citizens who commit crimes in the Palestinian territories and asked the judges to dismiss the legal objections of several dozen governments and other parties.
