(Patria) - Turkish Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu confirmed that a Turkish-owned ship passed through the Strait of Hormuz after receiving permission from Iran, Al Jazeera reports.
This concerns one of the 15 vessels owned by Turkish companies that were waiting near the Iranian coast, and whose status Ankara was in contact with Tehran about, writes Haberturk.
"There were fifteen ships under Turkish ownership there. We received permission from the Iranian authorities for one of them, the one that used an Iranian port, and it passed," Uraloğlu told the Turkish media outlet.
The passage of the ship occurs at a time of heightened tensions, after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard threatened to attack any vessel passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The threat was issued in retaliation for American-Israeli attacks.
