Turkish authorities inform Vučić about arrest of fan's killer

Turkish authorities officially informed the Government of Serbia this morning that the killer of Red Star fan Marko Ivković has been arrested, Serbian media report, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Marko Ivković (25), a Red Star fan from Zemun, was killed on November 21 in Istanbul when Turkish hooligans attacked a group of 400 Red Star fans who failed to enter the Abdi İpekçi Arena to attend a Euroleague match.

As reported by Hürriyet, the identity of the suspect is still not known to the general public, but a photograph of his arrest showed a completely different face, older and with grey hair, from the one initially claimed to be "Marko's killer."

 

Local police confirmed that he is a Turkish citizen and that he was caught while attempting to flee from Istanbul to Antalya.

Five people were initially detained based on footage; about 300 hours of video material from numerous cameras were reviewed, and more than 200 people were involved in the investigation within four special teams.

The head of Turkish diplomacy expressed condolences on Monday over the murder of the Serbian citizen.
