Turkey hopes decisions on recognizing the state of Palestine will accelerate the implementation of the two-state solution

(Patria) - Turkey hopes that upcoming decisions by various countries to recognize the state of Palestine will accelerate the implementation of the two-state solution, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Sunday.

- What distinguishes this year's UN General Assembly from previous ones is that many countries will recognize the state of Palestine, Erdoğan told reporters in Istanbul before leaving for the General Assembly session in New York.

Regarding Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharai, who is attending this year's General Assembly, the Turkish president said that Ankara will not abandon Damascus and will use all available means daily to help its neighbor become stronger.

Erdoğan added that he will have the opportunity to meet with Sharaa at the Turkish Center in New York or the Turkish House during the General Assembly.
