(Patria) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Saturday that Turkey will convene an urgent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address Israel's plan for the full occupation of Gaza.
"(Regarding Israel's plan for Gaza) As the Chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), we have decided to convene an OIC meeting," Fidan told reporters at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badre Abdelatty in El Alamein.
Fidan also condemned Israel's intentions, saying: "We completely reject (Israel's) intention to fully occupy Gaza; this plan is a new phase of Israel's expansionist and genocidal policy."
He added: "As Turkey and Egypt, we will continue to oppose such scenarios."
Highlighting humanitarian efforts, Fidan also noted: "To date, we have sent approximately 102,000 tons of humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza. We thank Egypt for its close cooperation in delivering aid."
