SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez stated that, in addition to discoveries in the Black Sea, reserves worth 60 million barrels of oil were found at 26 locations on land this year.
Donmez presented the ministry's budget plan for 2022 to the Plan and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in Ankara today.
Speaking about gas usage in Turkey, Donmez said that gas was used in only five cities in Turkey in the 2000s.
"Today, natural gas is supplied to all of our 81 provinces, to 604 districts. The number of gas users in the 2000s was 1.3 million, while today that number has increased to 17.9 million. 82 percent of our country's population has gained the opportunity to use gas, and currently 56 million inhabitants actively use gas," Donmez explained.
He spoke about hydrocarbon exploration and current production efforts.
"In our maritime areas, 15 wells have been drilled with our national vessels. In our land areas, 99 wells were drilled in nine months, and about 224,000 meters of drilling were performed," Donmez said, adding:
"In addition to discoveries in the Black Sea, this year we have found reserves worth 60 million barrels of oil at 26 locations on land."
