(Patria) - Turkey hosted 8.84 million international visitors in the period from January 1 to March 31 and achieved tourism revenue of a record 9.5 billion US dollars.
These impressive results were announced by Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy at a press conference held in Istanbul.
Ersoy emphasized that this is the best first quarter in the history of Turkish tourism.
According to UN Tourism data, Turkey was the fourth most visited tourist destination in the world in 2024.
- We planned to host 60 million international tourists last year, but we ended the year with a record 62.2 million. Our goal for the end of 2025 is to reach 65 million visitors and revenue of 64 billion dollars.
The first quarter and the 5.6% growth in tourism revenue compared to the same period last year confirm that we are on the right track to achieve that goal - said Minister Ersoy.
During the first three months of this year, the most tourists came from Iran (733,000), Russia (601,000), Germany (572,000), Bulgaria (560,000) and the United Kingdom (304,000).
Visitors stayed an average of 11 nights in Turkey and spent around 98.90 US dollars per night.
