(Patria) - Turkey, unlike the Gulf Arab countries, did not allow its bases or airspace to be used for American attacks on Iran. Ankara on Saturday rejected claims circulating on social networks that it supported joint Israeli-American attacks on Iran, stating that these were disinformation.
"Claims circulating on some social networks that Turkey supported recent attacks on Iran are completely unfounded and constitute disinformation aimed at misleading the public," stated the Center for Combating Disinformation on the Turkish platform NSosyal, reports Anadolija.
It is added that Turkey, in accordance with its fundamental principles of foreign and security policy, does not allow any of its air, land, or sea resources, including its airspace, to be used for operational purposes in any conflict or war in which it is not a party.
Claims about alleged illegal border crossings from Iran to Turkey rejected
"Turkey's sovereign rights over its airspace, land territory, and maritime jurisdictional areas are complete and unquestionable. All activities within Turkey's sovereign areas are carried out exclusively in accordance with the national security assessments of the Republic of Turkey and under the supervision and control of the competent authorities," it is stated.
Earlier on Saturday, the Center for Combating Disinformation also rejected claims that appeared on social networks about alleged illegal border crossings from Iran to Turkey.
"The published footage is old material of unknown time and place, and it has been determined that it was intentionally redistributed after recent regional events," stated another announcement on NSosyal.
Israel and the United States announced early on Saturday the launch of a joint operation against Iran, citing threats from the Iranian regime. Tehran retaliated with attacks on bases in the region.
The attacks followed while negotiations between Washington and Tehran on Iran's nuclear program were underway with the mediation of Oman, and a new round of talks in Geneva concluded on Thursday.
We remind you that several Arab countries condemned Iran for retaliation, but did not condemn Israel and the US for an unprovoked attack.
