Turkey receives invitation to become a BRICS partner

(Patria) - Turkey has received an invitation to become a BRICS partner country, announced Minister of Trade Omer Bolat.

- BRICS is a coalition of important countries, which together account for 25 percent of the world's GDP. The popularity of BRICS is growing. Regarding Turkey's participation, we have been offered partnership.

The inclusion of Turkey in the work of BRICS would be very beneficial for the country in terms of cooperation with all significant international platforms - Bolat told Haber TV.

He recalled that at the last BRICS summit in Kazan, the parties "considered the requests of Turkey and several other countries".

- As we understood, we were offered partner status. At the same time, there is no question of India vetoing our membership - added Bolat.

He noted that "countries from Africa, the Persian Gulf, the Middle East, and Asia" are part of BRICS in various capacities, and Turkey's goal is to "develop multilateral relations at multiple levels on the association's platform."

In October, the German newspaper Bild reported that India had allegedly vetoed Turkey's accession to BRICS due to Ankara's close ties with Pakistan.

The Turkish President's administration denied this information.
