Turković Sentenced to 40 Years, Lakić to 35

The Council of the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH today delivered the final verdict in this case for Zijad Turković and others. Turković was sentenced to 40 years in prison, and Milenko Lakić to 35 years.

The list of criminal offenses is extensive, with "Turković and group" being charged with unauthorized drug trafficking, robbery, extortion, money laundering, murder, attempted murder, causing general danger, and unauthorized trafficking of weapons and military equipment. This also includes the robbery of 2.4 million KM at the Cargo Center of Sarajevo International Airport.

Turković and others are also accused of the brutal liquidations of Midhat Mekić and his pregnant wife Lusija Salas Cortez, as well as the murders of Mario Tolić, Verner Ajdari, and Rajko Milovanović.

After the pronouncement of this final verdict, the BiH Prosecutor's Office expressed satisfaction.

- We welcome the decision of the Court of BiH. This is a historic verdict in the fight against organized crime - said Boris Grubešić, spokesperson for the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
