Tourist attraction: You can only reach the heart of Bijambare by train

One of the most beautiful picnic spots between Sarajevo and Olovo, the popular Bijambare, is full of excursionists.

Besides clean air and beautiful nature, tourists also enjoy the train ride. You can only drive to the park entrance by car, but from there you can either walk or take the train.

Bijambare is a legally protected area. It is located on the Sarajevo - Tuzla road along the edge of the Nišići plateau between the villages of Nišići and Krivajevići. Administratively, it belongs to the municipality of Ilijaš.

Bijambare covers an area of 370 hectares and includes dense coniferous forests, pastures, numerous karst phenomena such as sinkholes and swallow holes of two streams, and six caves. The largest cave is called the Main Bijambare Cave, Middle Bijambare Cave, or simply Bijambare. This cave is 420 meters long and consists of four corridors, the last of which is the largest and is called the "concert hall". Remains of cave dwellers, stone processing tools, and remains of some animals were found in the Upper Bijambare Cave.

The Middle Bijambare Cave is a special geological reserve, while the Upper Bijambare Cave is a paleontological monument of nature, writes Patria.
