SADNESS IN GORAŽDE: Memorial and funeral held for murdered Almir Raščić

(Patria) - Residents of Goražde said goodbye today to a great friend, in a packed hall of the Goražde Cultural Center where a memorial service was held for the murdered Almir Raščić. On a day of mourning, when the solemn silence is broken only by sighs, Goražde is saying goodbye today to a sportsman, businessman, friend, and good fellow citizen. The funeral prayer was also held, and Raščić was buried in the Kolijevke cemetery.

The hundreds of people present at the memorial session in the Goražde Cultural Center, who waited in long lines to express their condolences and words of comfort to the family members, best testify to what kind of person he was, reports GorazdePress.

Representatives of the Football Association, municipal and cantonal officials, neighbors, and friends addressed the attendees.

"Never a sadder January and start to the new year, during which we have already lost several of our fellow citizens, whose departure has left us poorer for all the goodness, love, and nobility. How loved you were, how much you were adored, is best shown by the comments on social networks and the silence and disbelief that has gripped the city. We can only promise you, we will not rest until we find the killer or killers, whose cowardly, treacherous act has horrified us all," said the Prime Minister of BPK, Edin Ćulov.

Raščić's friends, buddies, and neighbors called on the competent authorities to find and prosecute the perpetrator of this attack.

Hundreds of people headed towards the Kolijevke cemetery where the burial of the deceased is taking place.

We remind you that former footballer Almir Raščić, who was shot in front of his building in Goražde on January 13th this year, died at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo ten days later, on January 23, 2023.

Suspects for his murder have not yet been identified.

Almir will never be forgotten, said the residents of Goražde.
