Trump administration confirms sanctions on Milorad Dodik

The US Department of the Treasury confirmed sanctions against Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and the US also imposed sanctions on Iran. Today's announcement only confirmed the activities of the US administration from January 17, when Dodik was placed on the US "black list", writes the BiH news agency Patria. 

The US Embassy in Sarajevo also confirmed that the list has been updated, and that there are no changes compared to the action taken against Dodik last month.

After the sanctions were imposed, Dodik said that it would become clear whether there were those from BiH and RS who influenced him being placed on the black list. He added that the US administration's decision would not affect his views. 

He was particularly critical of the US Ambassador to BiH, Maureen Cormack, whom he called "outgoing" and accused of falsely informing official Washington about the situation in BiH. However, Cormack is a career diplomat and remains in BiH in her full capacity.

The sanctions include a travel ban to the US and freezing of assets on US territory, as well as in all countries that join the sanctions.
