(Patria) - The administration of President Donald Trump is seeking Congress's approval for the sale of $6.4 billion worth of equipment and weapons to Israel, including attack helicopters and troop carriers, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday.
The news of the proposed sale comes just days before world leaders are due to gather in New York for the annual United Nations General Assembly next week, where the UN Security Council is also scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on Gaza.
The planned package includes a $3.8 billion deal for thirty AH-64 Apache attack helicopters and $1.9 billion for 3,250 infantry assault vehicles for the Israeli army.
An additional $750 million worth of spare parts for armored personnel carriers and power supplies are also going through the sales process, one of the sources said.
