Trump's son-in-law Kushner to be senior White House advisor

The son-in-law of US President-elect Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, will soon be officially appointed to the position of senior advisor in the White House for trade and the Middle East, Reuters reports, carried by Patria. This is a rare case of such a close family member taking on such an important role.

Kushner (35), who is married to Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka, will take up the post after legal confirmation is issued that such a move will not violate US anti-nepotism laws. Unlike positions in the presidential cabinet, this role does not require Senate confirmation and is unpaid.

In a press release, President Trump explained his choice:

- He was of tremendous help and a trusted advisor throughout the campaign and transition.

Kushner, like his famous father-in-law, is involved in real estate development in New York. He drew attention to himself during the presidential election campaign, in which he was involved in almost every aspect – from staffing decisions to strategy and financing.

Trump's daughter Ivanka, who was also a close advisor to the new president, will not take on a role in her father's White House as rumored, but will focus on integrating the family in Washington.

Donald Trump, who is preparing to take office on January 20, has vowed to revise all trade deals for greater benefit to the US. He also plans to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv, where it has been for 68 years, to Jerusalem, despite international objections.
