Trump campaign raised $7.1 million after jail mugshot release

(Patria) - Donald Trump's campaign says it has raised $7.1 million since his mugshot was released on Thursday from the Atlanta jail, BBC reported.
A large portion of the money comes from merchandise such as mugs, t-shirts, and coolers featuring the former president's scowling face.

Trump was released on bail, accused of plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. He faces three other indictments while campaigning for the 2024 election. Trump denies all charges and claims the cases against him are politically motivated.
The attention appears to have energized his supporters, and he has raised nearly $20 million in three weeks since being indicted in the Georgia and Capitol riot cases.

On Friday, immediately after his arrest in Georgia, he raised $4.18 million, which was reportedly his highest 24-hour campaign fundraising figure to date.
In addition to selling merchandise from his online store, the campaign sent messages to supporters asking for help.

On Thursday, Trump himself posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, for the first time since January 2021, sharing the mugshot with the caption "Election interference. Never surrender!" and the address of his website.

This came after the former president was fingerprinted at the Fulton County jail, where he surrendered to authorities and paid $200,000 bail to be released pending trial.
