Trump bans flights from Europe to the US, except from Great Britain

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump on Wednesday made a decision to suspend all flights from Europe, in order for the United States to better cope with the coronavirus, writes BBC.
In a televised address to the nation, Trump said the decision takes effect on Friday at midnight and will last for the next 30 days.

"In order to prevent the import of new cases of infection, we are suspending all lines with Europe," Trump said.

For reasons known only to him, the United Kingdom is not covered by the decision, although 460 cases of coronavirus have been registered in that country as of Wednesday.

Italy is the worst affected, with more than 12,000 cases recorded. It is followed by France, Spain and Germany - all with around 2,000 cases.

The whole of Europe had more than 23,000 infected and nearly 1,000 deaths on Wednesday.

The decision does not apply to US citizens who wish to return home.

In the United States, the number of infected people is over 1,100, and 38 people have died so far.
