(Patria) - More and more reactions are coming to US President Donald Trump's speech about the war against Iran, and politicians in the US remain deeply divided, reports the BBC.
Trump's threats that Iran will be "returned to the Stone Age, where it belongs" have drawn sharp criticism from some Democrats. "He is talking about a country of 90 million people. Disgusting, terrifying, evil," said Representative Yassamin Ansari from Arizona.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth supported the president's message with a short post on social network X: "Back to the Stone Age."
Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland also criticized Trump's speech.
"Trump, as always, is lying to us. More than two weeks ago he said 'we won'. If that's the case, why are we still there? What's next? The only thing we can count on are more lies. This deluded man is a danger to our country and the world," he said.
On the other hand, Republicans stood by the president.
"Tonight, President Trump made an extremely compelling argument for Operation Epic Fury. The long history of terrorism and killing of Americans by the Iranian regime shows why it was necessary to prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons," said House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.
