Trump at the United Nations: Recognizing Palestine would reward Hamas

(Patria) - Recognizing a Palestinian state would be too great a reward for Hamas, US President Donald Trump said last night in an address to the UN General Assembly.

He reiterated his call for the release of hostages, dead or alive, still held by the militant group in the Gaza Strip. He called for an immediate end to the war in the coastal enclave.

"Those who support peace should unite in demanding the release of the hostages. As if wanting to encourage the continuation of the conflict, some in this body are calling for unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.

The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists, for their atrocities," Trump said, adding that the war in Gaza must be stopped immediately and the remaining hostages released.

He also addressed Russia, stating that if it is not ready for an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, the United States is ready with tariffs.

"If Moscow does not agree to a peace deal, Washington will impose a 'very strong round of strong tariffs that would stop the bloodshed.

But for these tariffs to be effective, European nations – you have all gathered here right now – would have to join us in adopting exactly the same measures," Trump said at the UN.

He called on European nations to immediately cease all energy purchases from Russia, stating that Europe must step up.

He accused China and India of being the main financial supporters of the Russian war machine, and called on them, as well as Europeans, to stop buying Russian energy.

"China and India are the main financial supporters of the current war because they continue to buy Russian oil. But what is unforgivable is that even NATO member states have not sufficiently reduced (imports of) Russian energy," Trump noted.

In his speech, he called uncontrolled migration the main issue of our time, and accused the United Nations of financing it.

"Migration has been completely out of control, your countries have been destroyed. The United Nations has financed the attack on Western countries and their borders," Trump asserted.

He also accused the United Nations of supporting individuals who illegally entered the US.

"Then we had to expel them. The UN provided them with food, accommodation, transportation, and even debit cards," Trump stated.

He added that the United Nations should have prevented invasions, not created and financed them.

"We have reaffirmed that America belongs to the American people, and I have encouraged all countries to take the same stance in defending their citizens. They had to do it, because I saw it.

I will not name anyone, but I could list them all. They were destroying their countries, they were destroyed," Trump said.

He openly told his European allies that they were going to hell because of their immigration policies.

"It's time to end the failed experiment of open borders. Your countries are going to hell," Trump said.

He also verbally attacked the head of London, Sadiq Khan, the first Muslim mayor of a Western capital.

"Europe has been attacked by a force of illegal migrants the likes of which the world has never seen before. Illegal migrants were entering Europe, and no one was doing anything to stop them or send them back – this is not sustainable.

Both immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe if something is not done immediately," Trump stated.

He also said that his administration would lead international efforts to enforce the biological weapons convention by using an AI-based verification system for the first time.

"I call on every country to join us in ending the development of biological weapons once and for all," Trump said.

He also addressed climate change, asserting that it is the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on the world, and the concept of a carbon footprint is a hoax invented by people with evil intentions.

"They said global warming would kill the world. But then it started getting colder," the US president noted.

He went on to criticize other countries that he said were violating environmental pollution rules.

He also criticized the world organization for its lack of support for American-led peace efforts, telling the General Assembly that he had resolved more global conflicts without the help of that international body.

"I ended seven wars, worked with the leaders of each of those countries, and I never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering help in finalizing the agreement," Trump concluded.
