(Patria) - U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran has agreed to abandon its attempts to acquire nuclear weapons during negotiations, TASS reported.
"Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and it will not have a nuclear weapon, and they agreed to that, among other things," he told reporters at the White House in response to a request for comment on the negotiations.
Earlier, CNN quoted sources as saying that Washington and Tehran are discussing a moratorium on uranium enrichment for more than ten years and the export of high-enriched uranium reserves from Iran.
According to a one-page plan under discussion, it provides for the announcement of the cessation of hostilities and the beginning of a thirty-day negotiation period on key contentious issues, including Iran's nuclear program, the release of its assets, and ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz.
