US President Donald Trump posted a message on his social network Truth Social addressed to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, commenting on possible British military engagement in the Middle East.
Trump stated that the United Kingdom, "once a great and perhaps the greatest ally," is "finally seriously considering" sending two aircraft carriers to the region, but at the same time made it clear that such assistance is no longer needed.
"We don't need them anymore," Trump wrote, adding: "We will remember that. We don't need people joining wars after we've already won."
His statement comes after reports that the British Navy is rapidly preparing the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales for a possible mission in the Middle East, while Starmer had previously rejected any British involvement in the conflict, including the US use of British military bases, which was also subsequently approved. According to these reports, shortening the time required for operational readiness would mean that the ship could respond faster if a decision was made to deploy it.
