SARAJEVO, (Patria) - United States President Donald Trump has fired two senior officials who testified against him at his impeachment trial for abuse of power in Congress.
One of those fired is the US Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland. Just a few hours earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, an expert on Ukraine, was also fired.
Trump announced such measures after senators saved him from charges on February 5. The Senate decided he was not guilty on either count of the indictment.
Thirty-four US senators voted that he was not guilty of abuse of power, as stated in the article of impeachment by the House of Representatives for his impeachment. This was enough for him to be acquitted of the charges.
The proceedings were initiated after an investigation against the US President due to reports that on July 25, he pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
