(Patria) - President Donald Trump stated that there is a "very good chance" that the United States will reach an agreement with Iran to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, several hours after he announced he had postponed a planned military strike to allow for continued negotiations.
Trump said that leaders of key US allies in the Middle East asked him to postpone the planned military strike on Iran scheduled for Tuesday to allow for continued negotiations with Tehran, while warning that the United States remains prepared to launch a large-scale attack if an agreement is not reached, Reuters reports.
"It seems there is a very good chance to agree on something. If we can do that without bombing, I would be very happy," Trump told reporters last night.
