Trump spoke with both Putin and Zelensky: Ready to help end the war in Ukraine

(Patria) - U.S. President Donald Trump, who turns 80 today, spoke during the day with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Kremlin issued a statement after the call, emphasizing that Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin that ending the conflict in Ukraine is of key importance and that he is ready to help in that regard, Russian news agencies reported, citing Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov.

"Regarding the Ukrainian conflict, Donald Trump reiterated that a cessation of hostilities is of crucial importance," Ushakov told reporters.

"He said he is ready to act together with European partners and Kyiv, including discussions at the G7 summit," Ushakov added.

Ushakov also said that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are leading U.S.-mediated negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, will soon visit Russia again.

Zelensky also commented on the content of his conversation with Trump, stating that they discussed many key topics: the war, its roots, diplomatic possibilities, and the positions of our partners.

"President Trump's statements were absolutely accurate, especially regarding our Crimea: Russia's annexation of Crimea started it all, and if there had been strong leadership at that time, this entire war simply would not have happened.

All Ukrainians have one wish for President Trump: that we finally achieve peace and achieve this success together with the U.S. and all our partners. That is the most important thing we want, and it is crucial that American society fully supports this Ukrainian aspiration for a dignified peace," Zelensky stated.

He and Trump are expected to speak again during the G7 Summit in France.
