Trump: Putin and Zelensky agreed to a complete cessation of hostilities on May 9, 10, and 11

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump announced tonight that an agreement has been reached on a three-day ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump wrote on his social media network Truth Social:

"I am pleased to announce that a three-day ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine will be in effect on May 9, 10, and 11.

The celebration in Russia is for Victory Day, but equally so in Ukraine, as they were also a big part and factor in World War II.

This ceasefire includes a complete cessation of all combat activities and the exchange of 1,000 prisoners on both sides.

I personally made this request and I am very grateful that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky have accepted it.

I hope this is the beginning of the end of a long, deadly, and hard-won war.

Talks to end this great conflict, the largest since World War II, continue and we are getting closer every day."
