Trump extends measures until April 30, predicts "great" developments by June 1

(Patria) – President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he will extend the duration of the so-called social distancing guidelines until April 30.

Concerned about the general stagnation that threatens the economy, the US President stated last week that he wanted the country to return to "normal" by Easter (April 12), despite warnings from experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that premature lifting of restrictive measures could increase the overall fatal outcome in the US and thus cause even greater damage to the economy.  

After further consultations with experts, Trump changed his initial stance, explaining that the relaxation of measures on Easter was "just an aspiration," and that he expects "great things to happen" by June 1.

The US is the new center of the coronavirus pandemic with over 140,000 infected.

Leading medical expert for infectious diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, claims that the US could lose about 200,000 inhabitants even if the country introduced more aggressive measures to curb the infection.
