Trump agrees to debate with Kamala Harris

(Patria) - American Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced yesterday on the Truth Social network that he accepts Fox News' offer to hold a debate with Democratic US Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4th.

"The rules will be similar to the rules of my debate with Sleepy Joe, whom his party has treated terribly, but with a full audience," Trump said, referring to President Joe Biden, who has since withdrawn from the race for re-election.

The announcement was removed and re-posted a few minutes later, and Trump deleted his proposal for a large town hall gathering on the same date if Harris did not want or could not attend the debate.

Harris responded last month that she was ready after Fox News proposed a presidential debate between the two candidates on September 17th.

After Biden withdrew from the race on July 21st and endorsed Harris, Trump said he would not debate her because she was not the official Democratic Party candidate.

As proof of lack of support, he added that former President Barack Obama had not yet endorsed her. However, Obama did so the next day, and on Friday she received the necessary number of delegate votes to become the Democratic nominee.
