(Patria) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday he has asked the Department of Defense to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government "continues to allow the killing of Christians," Reuters reported.
The U.S. government will also immediately halt all aid and support to Nigeria, Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
Trump said the United States could "very easily enter that now disgraced country, 'with weapons in hand' to completely destroy the Islamic terrorists who are committing these terrible crimes."
