Trump invites Sanders' voters: We will welcome you with open arms

Donald Trump used the night Hillary Clinton was celebrating her nomination to address Bernie Sanders' defeated voters and encourage them to vote for him, world media write, reports Patria.

- I am telling all Bernie Sanders' voters who will be left out due to the unfair superdelegate system that we will welcome you with open arms, Trump stated in a speech he held at his Westchester golf club in New York.

Trump's fans, dressed in expensive cocktail dresses, pastel polo shirts, suits with red ties, and caps with the logo "Make America Great Again", chanted words of support for the Republican candidate as he offered an olive branch to Sanders' voters.

- Bad trade deals, which Bernie fought hard and rightly against, will be resolved in the best possible way. That's how I operate. We will have fantastic trade deals, Trump promised.

He was accompanied by his wife and adult children as he read a polished speech from two teleprompters, which outlined future policy and strategy for the energy sector, trade, and foreign policy as the concept of "America First", which seemed like a clear attempt to unite the Republican Party, which was still debating Trump's comments about the Mexican origin of federal judge Gonzalo Curiel.

Trump had been criticized for days because of his comments about the judge. Namely, he stated that Judge Curiel had treated him unfairly in the case against Trump University due to his plan to build a wall between Mexico and the USA.

- I know that some think I am an excessive fighter. However, I always prefer peace and I have shown that, I have been showing it for a long time, Trump insisted.

Paul Ryan, who initially refused to support Trump, criticized the candidate's comments on Tuesday as "racist by definition". Nevertheless, he stated that he would vote for Trump.

That same evening, in his address, Trump also touched upon the Clintons. He stated that the couple had become rich by selling access to themselves (although Trump himself became rich by selling himself as a personal brand).

- The Clintons have turned the policy of personal enrichment into an art, Trump said, promising a speech next week solely on the topic of the Clintons.

- I think it will be informative, announced the Republican candidate.

He left the hall accompanied by his family and with the song he entered with playing in the background – Queen's "We Are the Champions".
