Trump signs Gaza agreement with leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump arrived in Egypt where world leaders gathered. Leaders of the US, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar signed a document formalizing the end of the war in Gaza, Palestine. Trump arrived in Egypt from Israel.

US President Donald Trump addressed individual world leaders, praising them for their role in supporting the peace agreement for Gaza. He moved from person to person, without a clear order, acknowledging them.

To the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, he said: "They talk about you as if you are not a good person, and you are. You live in a difficult neighborhood. This would not have happened without you."

To Turkish President Tayyıp Erdoğan, he said: "He is my friend and every time I needed him, he was there for me. He is a tough man, but we love him. We have had a good relationship from the beginning," Trump said.

To Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, he said: "We chose Egypt because you were very helpful. Everyone wanted this hosting, but we thought Egypt was the most suitable. You are a great leader, you have very little crime."

He praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, saying: "We have Italy. She is a very strong leader. She is doing a great job."

US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi opened the peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.

When asked when the second phase of negotiations for the peace agreement would begin, Trump replied: "It has already begun." He added that "phases overlap" and that there is "a lot of work to be done in Gaza to clear up the situation."

Speaking through an interpreter, Sisi called Sharm el-Sheikh the "city of peace" and described the truce agreement as an "unprecedented achievement." He said Trump "is the only one who can end the war in Gaza" and stated his desire to help return the bodies of the remaining Israeli hostages and maintain the truce.

At a brief press conference with Sisi, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that today is "one of the most important days for world peace in the last 50 years."

Trump stated that he would like Sisi to be a member of his "peace committee" – an international body that, according to the US plan for Gaza, would temporarily govern the territory. Sisi replied: "I will be there."

Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said there is a "long list of requirements" to join that committee. The brief conference concluded with Trump thanking Egypt, for which he said it had "done a great job."

According to Trump's 20-point peace plan, Gaza would be governed during the transitional period by a temporary body of Palestinian technical experts under the supervision of an international "Peace Committee" headed by Trump himself.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also in Egypt, having held several meetings with world leaders, and more than 20 world leaders gathered.
