Trump says: Racism is evil

US President Donald Trump condemned the far-right, neo-Nazis and sympathizers of the old racist organization KKK, saying that racism is evil, world media report, agency Patria reports.

After being sharply criticized for his inaction regarding the violence of right-wing extremists in Virginia, Trump interrupted his annual vacation for a day to hold meetings with representatives of the Department of Justice and the FBI.

- Racism is evil. Those who incite violence are bullies, including the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other similar groups. They behave abhorrently towards everything that is dear to us Americans - Trump said at a press conference where no questions were allowed.

Trump has not personally condemned the violence in Virginia so far, where a far-right extremist drove a car into demonstrators at an anti-racist rally, killing one young woman and injuring about 20 people.

Trump came under fire, even from his own Republicans, for blaming hatred and intolerance from "many sides" for the violence, and for not clearly condemning the white extremist groups from the rally.

The CEO of the American pharmaceutical giant Merck, Kent Fraser, resigned today from the position of economic advisor to the US President.

- American officials must respect our fundamental values and clearly condemn all forms of hatred, intolerance, and any expression of superiority that denies the American ideal that all are equal - said Fraser.
