Trump: America's golden age has begun

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump proclaimed "America's golden age" in his State of the Union address on Tuesday. "Our nation has returned greater, better, richer, and stronger than ever before", Trump said at the beginning of his address to Congress.

"This is America's golden age", continued the Republican in a speech praising what he considers his administration's achievements, from record stock market indices and low fuel prices to preventing fentanyl from entering US territory.

Trump asserted that the US is today "respected perhaps as never before" in the world and that it is "winning so much" that it "doesn't know what to do with it anymore".

This year's State of the Union address comes in an exceptionally significant year for the United States, which will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in July, writes dpa agency.

The address follows just days after the US Supreme Court overturned key customs policies of President Trump. This judicial defeat has left global trade partners in uncertainty as they try to assess the further consequences of such a decision.
