Trump: This is a great day for world peace

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump has welcomed the two-week cessation of attacks on Iran as a "great day for world peace".

In a post on the social network Truth Social, he said that Iran has "had enough of war" and that "many positive moves" now follow.

Trump also announced that the US will participate in securing maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global route that Iran had largely closed during the conflict.

"We will deliver various supplies and simply be there to ensure everything goes as it should. I am confident it will," he wrote.

Earlier, Trump threatened that "the entire civilization will disappear" in US attacks if Tehran does not agree to reopen the strait by the set deadline.

The White House also issued an official statement from President Trump.
