Trump cancels Witkoff and Kushner trip to Pakistan for talks with Iran

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that he has cancelled the trip of special envoy Steve Witkoff and his advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Pakistan for talks with Iran.

In a statement to Fox News, Trump confirmed that US negotiators Witkoff and Kushner "will no longer be traveling to Pakistan for talks with Iran".

Trump stated that it is not worth the US delegation making an 18-hour flight to Pakistan when, as he stated, "the US holds all the cards in the conflict with Iran".

He added that the Iranians can call the United States whenever they wish.

The Iranian delegation, which includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, left Islamabad after holding meetings with high-ranking Pakistani officials yesterday, Al Jazeera reported.

According to media reports, the Iranian delegation delivered Tehran's official list of demands to Pakistani leaders for ending the war with the United States and Israel.

After talks with officials in Islamabad, Araghchi praised Pakistan's mediation efforts to maintain the continuation of negotiations with the US on achieving lasting peace.

In a post on Telegram, Araghchi stated that he discussed "the latest developments regarding the ceasefire" between the US and Iran with the Commander of the Pakistani Army, Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

After visiting Pakistan, as announced, Araghchi is traveling to Oman and Russia for further diplomatic consultations.
