(Patria) - US President-elect Donald Trump will, according to American media, choose Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.
Rubio is a politician born in Florida and will thus become the first Hispanic person to hold the position of the highest-ranking US diplomat.
In recent years, he has advocated for a stronger foreign policy towards the geopolitical rivals of the United States, including China and Iran.
Interestingly, Rubio had disagreements with Trump. They had a battle in 2016 during the internal elections for the Republican Party's candidate for that year's presidential election.
Trump won, and Rubio has since become a strong supporter of Trump and appeared with the new US president as part of the campaign.
Rubio was also proposed as a potential candidate for vice president, but that position ultimately went to JD Vance.
Besides Marco Rubio, according to American media, Richard Grenell, Bill Haggerty, and Vivek Ramaswamy are in contention for the position of US Secretary of State.
