(Patria) - US President Donald Trump announced the start of the "second phase" of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
In the first phase, 20 Israeli hostages were released, all within the framework of the agreement mediated by Turkey, the US, Qatar, and Egypt.
"All twenty hostages have been returned and are as well as can be expected. A big burden has been lifted, but the job is not finished.
The dead have not yet been returned, as promised. The second phase begins immediately," Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.
In the first phase of the agreement, Hamas and Israel carried out an exchange of hostages and prisoners, during which hundreds of Palestinian prisoners were released from the Israeli military prison Ofer and other detention centers in the Negev desert, while all surviving Israeli hostages, 20 of them, were released.
The second phase of the agreement provides for the establishment of a new governance mechanism in Gaza, the formation of multinational forces, and the disarmament of Hamas.
