Trump: New Iranian leaders want to talk, I agreed

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump stated that the new Iranian leaders "want to talk" and that he has agreed to negotiations.

Trump told a journalist from The Atlantic while American and Israeli strikes on Iran are ongoing, reports Index.hr.

"They want to talk, and I agreed to talk, so I will talk to them. They should have done it earlier. They should have agreed earlier to what was very practical and simple. They waited too long," Trump said.

When asked by journalist Michael Scherer when the talks would take place, the US President refused to give a precise answer.

"I can't tell you that," Trump said.

He also did not reveal with which exact Iranian leaders his administration is talking, noting that some of the previous interlocutors were killed.

"Most of those people are gone. Some of the people we negotiated with are gone, because that was a big – that was a big blow. They should have done it earlier, Michael. They could have made a deal. They should have done it earlier. They played too smart," Trump added.

This statement comes shortly after he told another journalist that 48 Iranian leaders were killed in American and Israeli attacks on Iran.
