Trump: No rush with Gaza plan

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump stated yesterday that his plan for the Gaza Strip, according to which the US would take control of this Palestinian territory, whose residents would be displaced to rebuild it, does not require haste.

- There is absolutely no rush - said the US President yesterday, who the day before stated that Gaza would be "handed over to the US by Israel at the end of the fighting".

Until then, Trump stated, Palestinians will "already have been relocated" elsewhere in the region, particularly to Egypt or Jordan.

These two countries have rejected such an option, which has also drawn international criticism, with the United Nations warning that it could amount to "ethnic cleansing".

Hamas, as well as the Palestinian self-government in the West Bank, have strongly rejected it.

Trump also said yesterday in the Oval Office, in a brief address to reporters, that he will "probably" meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week.

- We will probably see each other next week - said Trump.

He reiterated that he intends to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During his campaign, Trump promised to immediately end the war in Ukraine upon returning to power.

Zelensky stated this week that he is ready to negotiate directly with Vladimir Putin. However, the Kremlin rejected his statement, considering it "empty words".
