Trump denies top US general is against war with Iran

(Patria) - President Donald Trump on Monday denied "fake news media" reports that the top US military general is against war with Iran, Al Arabiya reported.

Reports from several US and Israeli media outlets suggest that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan "Razin" Caine, has warned the Trump administration against attacking Iran, as the US president has threatened in recent weeks.

A spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff emphasized that the chairman's role is to provide the president, the Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council with "a range of military options, as well as secondary considerations and associated impacts and risks, to civilian leaders making US security decisions".

The official added that the chairman "provides these options confidentially".

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that General Caine, "like all of us, does not want to see a war, but if a decision is made to fight Iran on a military level, his opinion is that it will be something that will be easily won".

Trump then mentioned last year's US strikes on Iran's nuclear program, which were orchestrated and carried out under Caine's supervision.

The US president claimed that everything written about a potential war with Iran was "written incorrectly, and intentionally so", without further explanation.

In recent weeks, US media have reported on imminent and detailed potential US attacks on Iran. Often, the reports concluded that no decision had yet been made.

"I am the one making the decision, I would rather have a deal than not, but if we don't reach a deal, it will be a very bad day for that country and, unfortunately, for its people, because they are great and wonderful, and something like this should never have happened to them," Trump said on the Truth Social social network.

"Razin Caine is a great fighter and represents the most powerful military anywhere in the world."
