Trump does not intend to give up on outdoor rallies

(Patria) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated yesterday that he intends to continue holding outdoor rallies, despite security lapses that nearly cost him his life in an assassination attempt.

"The United States Secret Service (USSS), responsible for protecting the president, presidential candidates, and other high-ranking officials, has significantly enhanced its operations following the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

They are very capable of doing so. No one should be allowed to stop or interfere with freedom of speech or assembly," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

In the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, the attacker grazed Trump's ear, one rally attendee was killed, and two people were seriously injured. The attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was neutralized by a Secret Service sniper.

Following intense pressure from Republicans and Democrats due to security lapses, USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday.

Trump has not held any outdoor rallies since then, but yesterday he promised to return to the scene of the crime and hold a "big and beautiful rally." He did not specify when that might be.
