(Patria) – U.S. President Donald Trump left the hospital on Monday evening where he was treated for illness caused by the Covid-19 virus, and is now at the White House where he will continue treatment and recovery.
World media reported on Trump's departure from Walter Reed military hospital, where he spent three days. The U.S. President removed his mask for a photo opportunity and emphasized that he 'feels good'.
He later sent a video message to Americans, urging them not to let the virus 'dominate' them because 'we have the best medical equipment, the best medicines, developed recently,' and encouraged them that they 'can beat' the virus.
Trump claims he initially did not feel well, after which his condition improved to the extent that he 'could have left the hospital two days ago,' and that he feels 'better than 20 years ago.'
Trump's medical team confirmed on Sunday that the president was given experimental remdesivir therapy, as well as dexamethasone, which is usually administered for severe clinical cases of Covid-19 illness.
Trump will continue remdesivir therapy at home, but announces he is 'going back to work' because he 'has to, as a leader.' He claims he is aware of the risks he is exposing himself to, but he simply 'has to.'
His doctor, Sean Conley, confirmed that Trump is still contagious and that his condition will be risky for at least another week, but that recovery at home is perfectly fine.
Trump's allegedly relaxed attitude towards the infection has drawn numerous criticisms, but also caused concern among White House staff, writes Euronews.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, and is the latest in a series of confirmed infections among Trump's associates.
In addition to First Lady Melania Trump, those infected include Hope Hicks, Director of Communications, Nick Luna, bodyguard, Kellyanne Conway, former advisor, Bill Stepien, campaign manager, Ronna McDaniel, Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Chris Christie, former Governor of New Jersey, as well as Republican Senators Thom Tillis, Mike Lee, and Ron Johnson.
